Learn to Burn in GTMO
Pyrography is the craft of making art through burning—on wood, on leather, on canvas, on paper, and more. It’s a hobby that gives a little extra thrill because there’s an element of “danger.” Burning. Like, literally blackening your work surface through intense heat in order to create a design. With smoke tendrils and everything! If that doesn’t light your heart on fire…

The Learn to Burn Pyrography Class is a 2-hour beginner-level online wood burning class taught by an experienced pyrography artist. We walk you through every single step of the process of creation including:
- How to prepare the wood
- Practice burning
- Tracing the design on the wood
- Beginner wood burning techniques
- Safety information
- Changing and using different pen tips
The class is informational and also lots of fun, with time for breaks, talking with the other class members, and plenty of opportunity to ask questions and engage. Above all, the design is easy enough to make, interesting enough to keep, and challenging enough to help you start to find your own artistic style so you will be proud of your own finished product. Everyone who has ever participated has been impressed with what they’ve been able to create by the end!

Testimonials
I had a great time attending the Learn to Burn beginner class. Evelyn is such a great instructor and even though I literally have zero experience with wood burning, I found I was easily able to follow along and participate without feeling frustrated. My finished project was not half-bad for my first attempt! She provided a complete kit with everything I would need to wood burn. Her talent and experience with pyrography is astonishing and she really made the class super fun. I highly recommend you give the Learn to Burn class a try.
(P.S. it was way easier and way more fun than making sour dough bread – 2 thumbs up for a new quarantine hobby.)
